A whirlwind tour of South India - Day 4

When we had halted just before Adimali, we had bought a “Kerala Tourism” book with hotel numbers. We had read some interesting stuff regarding Munnar in that book. So we decided to halt in Munnar for another day. We decided that we will not stay in this cottage but move to some better place. We gave a call to “T&U” and they said they will get a status in another 1 hour. None of the hotels we called were ready to commit anything. So we decided that we will try booking in person. We went to T&U and found that the hotel was nice. They had a buffet for 250 bucks and the room was going to cost us 5.5K. But the room was gorgeous. We paid money upfront, went back to the cottage and brought back our luggage. We cleaned up and decided to rest for a couple of hours.
In the evening we planned going to “Top Station”. It’s a beautiful place with Matupetty dam on the way. I was awed that such a large water body existed at such great heights. The landscape is just beautiful. We carried forward towards top station but the 30 Kms ride is treacherous and we missed the sunset by a whisker. On the way to top station we came across a shop which had tons of “Maggi” stacked in the shelves. I was wondering why. When we reached “Top Station”, we came across small dingy shops selling “Egg Maggi” and “normal maggi”. It tastes awesome and the masala chaay is good too especially if you are riding in the cold. Actually it was not too cold, but the windchill makes it bad. We had to ride back in darkness and to our astonishment, the road which was dry while going up had some wet patches on turns and under trees. Maybe it was the dew. But that slowed our progress and it was a pain going back. One thing I did not mention, we were on one bike and I was riding pillion and I was petrified with the way Rohit was riding. All these years, when you are driving or riding and are used to be in control, it takes a lot of guts to be pillion with someone else especially when he is trying to make time. I felt I was going to throw up.
Anyways, we came back, packed our stuff and were ready to move out early morning next day.
Again we referred to the Kerala guide and made some phone calls. We hit pay dirt with call we made to Binoy at Shri Krishna Ayurvedic Centre. He said, he would book a nice hotel room for us. We gave him the date and time when we would arrive in Alleppey and hung up. He asked us to reach “Finishing Point” when we were in Alleppey and give him a call when we reached. We had put our trust in another person whom we did not know. It works sometimes and it doesn't. Day 4 also gave us our much needed rest.
Luggage dumped at the T&U reception. Waiting to check-in:

Ain’t Munnar beautiful?
